How accurate is the data?
iCivic combines open data (official institutional feeds) with GPS-verified citizen reports. Forecasts are then computed from each location's history — hour, day, season. The more reports a location has, the more reliable the estimate.
Is iCivic really free?
Yes. Core features are free. Certain advanced features may become optional paid add-ons in the future. Any change to our terms is versioned and dated: you are notified in the app before it takes effect, and every version stays available at its permanent address.
What about my privacy?
Your GPS coordinates stay on your device — they are never sent to our servers. They are used locally, only to verify that a check-in matches a real location at the moment you submit it. No continuous tracking, no sale of personal information, no account required to view wait times. Your data is hosted in Quebec, with a few exceptions named in our privacy policy. We collect only what is necessary to improve data accuracy.

What do my reports do?
Every report makes the data more reliable for everyone — and moves you up the Scout program, from your first report all the way to Pillar status. Your contributions are counted; they're never linked to your identity.
My institution doesn't show a wait time — why?
Some institutions haven't connected their official data yet. In the meantime, citizen reports fill the gap. The more active scouts near you, the more reliable the data becomes — and the more visible citizen demand becomes to convince the institution to join us.
